  • AAA is committed to providing cultural support for Asian American students in a primarily European American environment; representing and addressing the needs, concerns, and issues of Asian American students; increasing campus and community awareness pertaining to Asian American issues; and celebrating the richness and diversity of the Asian American experience.

  • We want to provide a sense of community for Asian Americans on campus. It's easy to feel isolated as an Asian American at MU. AAA provides opportunities to make friends, discuss pertinent issues, and have fun.


    Additionally, we are seeking to promote greater campus awareness of Asian American issues. Many people are unsure of what it means to be Asian American, so they treat Asian Americans as international visitors, or as basically white. When minority issues are discussed, Asian Americans are often forgotten. We want to increase our own understanding of who Asian Americans are, and hope that in the process, we will educate others as well.


    AAA will continually strive to fulfill its mission statement by doing the following:

  • General Goals

  • General goals are looser objectives AAA aims to accomplish through varied measures.

    1. Consistent recruiting, especially of South Asians and other underrepresented Asian ethnicities

    2. Organizing social events to provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere in which Asian American students can meet other Asian Americans

    3. Bringing diverse and dynamic programming to campus and the Columbia community

    4. Building coalitions and maintaining strong relationships with other ethnic student organizations

    5. Establishing strong ties with various administrative departments

    6. Increasing AAA's visibility and recognition on campus

  • Specific Goals

  • Specific goals are detailed objectives AAA aims to accomplish.

    1. Intensive recruitment and retention of the freshmen class

    2. Leadership development for officer continuation

    3. One-day APA conference hosted by Mizzou

    4. Making the organization less "clique-ish" and more inclusive

    5. Pushing for an Asian American Studies program at Mizzou

    6. Garnering Asian American resources and finding a location to make those resources accessible

    7. Begin establishing a scholarship endowment fund for Asian American students

    8. Creating an alumni database of past and present AAA members

    9. Keeping organized records of AAA's activities of the year

    10. Increasing AAA's visibility and recognition on campus
