Dear Academic Coach,

I am pleased to announce that, after a year in hiatus, the Mizzou Academic Invitational will be returning to the 2001 academic competition schedule on Saturday, November 10, 2001. As in the past, the tournament will be held in Middlebush Hall on the MU campus.

Due to the long distances many teams must travel to get to Columbia, the tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. A random draw of all participating teams will take place the morning of the tournament to determine opponents for the morning preliminary rounds. All teams will be guaranteed three matches in the morning. The top 16 teams will move on to the single-elimination afternoon rounds. MSHSAA rules will be followed throughout the tournament, as this is an MSHSAA-sanctioned event.

The cost to play is as follows:

• We're going to bring a team________________$50
• We'll bring along a volunteer_______________$45
• We'll bring a working buzzer system_________$45
• We'll bring a volunteer and a system_________$40
• We're bringing a second team______________add $40

Tournament space is limited. Only the first 40 teams to reply will be accepted. To ensure your spot in the MAI, please send a note of confirmation and your entry fee to the address above by October 12, 2001. Please make checks payable to MU College Bowl and include a contact email address in your reply. After your payment is received and processed, you will receive a confirmation notice with more information.
