Long Term Successional Trends in an Oak-Dominated Forest of Central Missouri
I’m studying changes in species composition and forest structure over a 40-year period in the Baskett Research and Education Area in central Missouri. Trends are strongly suggesting that sugar maple (Acer saccharum) may one day succeed oaks (Quercus spp.) in the dominance of these forests.
