After fifteen cottonwood clones with superior wood qualities have been identified, they will be tested for flood tolerances in the flood lab at the Agroforestry Research Center. Several channels will be used to investigate these effects, and the treatments will consist of three weeks stagnant flooding, three weeks flowing flooding, and five weeks stagnant flooding. The cottonwood cuttings will be flooded to a depth of approximately 12-18,” and they will be observed for various signs of stress caused by the flooding treatments.
