Poplar Biomass and C Sequestration Project
This study examines annual and total biomass accumulation among five cottonwood clones as a function of leaf area, leaf area duration, and soil moisture.  The purpose of this research is to determine which clone is the best candidate for commercial production in the Central Missouri floodplain based on the above criteria.  Activities include destructive tree harvesting, root system excavation, growing season light measurements, and monitoring of environmental conditions.  Change in soil C concentration over the course of a plantation rotation is also being monitored.
