54th Annual Midwestern Foresters’ Conclave

University of MissouriColumbia

Bourbon, MO @ Riverview Ranch

Dear Foresters,

Hello to ALL and we hope everyone has had a great year anticipating another great conclave.  The 54th Midwestern Foresters’ Conclave is right around the corner, so we hope practices has begun and you’re getting excited for this years event.  This year’s conclave is being held in Bourbon, MO at Riverview Ranch.  I have included a couple hints that I hope will make this conclave an enjoyable one.

What to bring:  Since this conclave is being held in Missouri in early October, the weather should still be fairly nice.  The campsites are along the Meramec River, so at night, the temperatures may fall somewhere around 55*F.  We will update you on current weather and temperatures when it gets closer to the date, but snow or cold weather is unlikely.  Also, we will be camping out so don’t forget to bring your tents, sleeping bags and all other relative gear.  The event is at a campsite, so there is level ground, running water, port-a-potties, and shower houses available.

Arrival on Friday October 7, 2005:  We would like for everyone to be there by at least 9:00 pm, however we realize that some schools have a very long drive.  We will be awaiting your arrival and will have people to show you around once you get there.  At check in we will have a packet of information for the team captains, and also will request a final roster for your team.  There will also be a short waiver for each participant to sign.  There will be a team captains meeting at 10:00 at the main dining pavilion.

The competition:  On Saturday the competition will be open to the public so we would ask that you and your team act professional.  There is also the possibility of media attention.  The competition will begin at 9:00am directly after breakfast.  Along with your registration, each student will receive a t-shirt, meals, and camping.  If you have family members/staff/friends we ask that they leave before Saturday night’s ceremony.  However, they can buy a lunch ticket for $6.00 and/or a dinner ticket for $10.00.

Saturday Evening Festivities:  After the award ceremony there will be no vehicles allowed to leave or drive on or off  the property.    There will be a large bonfire on Saturday after the awards ceremony.  There will also be music provided.  Beverages will be provided by us.
