The
Endowment Fund of Phi Kappa Psi
Missouri Alpha Chapter Scholarship Fund
Dear
incoming MU student:
It
is my pleasure to announce that the Missouri Alpha Chapter
of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity Scholarship Fund will be
awarding several scholarships for the fall 2003 semester.
This year, we plan to award at least four scholarships up
to $1,000 each to incoming University of Missouri-Columbia
students.
The
Scholarships are available to all incoming (freshmen and
transfer) male students that will attend the University
of Missouri this year. It is not required that you join
Phi Kappa Psi to be eligible for the scholarships.
Sen.
Paul D. Coverdell Memorial Service Scholarship:
Paul D. Coverdell,
Missouri Alpha '59, was a U.S. Senator from Georgia from
1992-2000. He also served as the Director of the Peace Corps
from 1989-1991, and was a tremendous advocate of community
and public service, a value which he attributed to his membership
in the Missouri Alpha Chapter. This scholarship will be
given to an incoming MU student who has shown significant
involvement in community service and related projects.
Hon.
William J. Randall Memorial Excellence Scholarship:
William J. "Bill"
Randall, Missouri Alpha '32, was a U.S. Representative from
Independence, Missouri. He served six consecutive terms
as a Jackson County judge before being elected to Congress
for nine terms. His achievements and awards are countless,
which he attributed to striving for excellence in everything
he did. The scholarship in his name will be awarded to an
incoming MU student who shows a high level of involvement
and excellence in both their school and community.
Charles
C. Allis Memorial Academic Scholarship:
Charles C. Allis,
Missouri Alpha '32, was the chapter's alumnus academic advisor
for many years. His constant attention to members' sholastic
habits made Phi Kappa Psi top in grades for many years at
MU. The scholarship in his name will be awarded to an incoming
MU student who has excelled academically and has developed
effective study habits.
William
R. Cockefair, Jr. Memorial Leadership Scholarship:
William R. Cockefair,
Jr., Missouri Alpha '32, was one of the most instrumental
leaders in the chapter at his time. Even after he graduated
he remained active as a member of the house corporation.
He donated a great amount of time and money to the chapter.
The scholarships in his name will be awarded to incoming
MU students that have participated and excelled in leadership
opportunities in their school and community.
