About Bike Fest

Bike Fest aims to introduce more Mizzou students to biking, encourage students to use their bike as a commuting vehicle, and to teach students some basic repair techniques.

The second annual Bike Fest was sponsored by GetAboutColumbia and was a two-day event. On Wednesday students enjoyed free pizza after talking to ten different community organizations about bike safety. Talking to the organizations entered students in a raffle to win great bike gear.

A group ride was held on Wednesday evening and was led by Ian Thomas from PedNet. We biked through side streets and around Steven’s Lake Park.

The next day, we offered three different classes on bike tire and brake repair and safe commuting. Students who attended a class got free bike gear and were eligible to win a mountain bike.
